Zimbabwe wants to be a knowledge society
The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Bill, will put in motion the strategic plan to develop telecommunications and Internet infrastructure, and enhance capacity to produce local software and hardware, The five-year ICT plan, scheduled to start this year, aims to address issues such as cyber-security; ICT utilisation and infrastructure development; e-business and e-government; and ICT investment and partnerships.
The bill will help transform Zimbabwe into a knowledge society. The plan will get finances through private-public partnerships.
Biggest Technology Company
Apple Company, the maker of iPod, iPad, and Mac has pushed past Microsoft to become the world’s biggest technology company in May 2010. Apple Company is worth about $222 billion compared to Microsoft’s 218 billion. link

Mauritius Plans to adopt green computing
The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology is drafting a “green” ICT policy document, which will promote the concept and act as a roadmap to sustain present green ICT initiatives. It will also devise and implement strategies in for green ICT and e-waste management. Probably Mauritius may be the first Africa country to launch such climate saving program. Link

ICTBITS is looking for people who are dedicated to the promotion ICT education in the schools. Eventually we will be offering online as well as onsite certification courses for the teachers to teach ICT subjects in the schools.

Currently we are looking for the following positions:

2.Content developers with multimedia experience

International Consultants
International consultants provide us information about the local ICT needs and liaise with us in creating the ICT syllabuses and then the learning materials. International consultants are suitably rewarded in the following ways:
1.Joint authorship
2.Onetime royalty payment

We will also post the international consultants to organize local ICT activities such as conducting training programs for the teachers, organize local ICT competitions.

Content developers with multimedia experience
We are planning to develop this website as an online ICT education resource centre. We need people to create online learning materials suitable for:
1.Kindergartens
2.Primary and secondary schools
3.Adults

You can propose topics of interest that will be of interest for our learners. After scrutiny we can develop learning materials. The candidates must be familiar with ICT and its integration with other subjects such as Mathematics, English, Science, and Geography. Web development experience will be an asset. These positions are on part-time basis and financial compensation is based on the user traffic on the site. However, we will also consider candidates for onetime payment method.
